Lere & Abi in 1998 after several years of ministry experience in obedience to divine instruction received about mission left their home country Nigeria for the neighboring country of Ghana (all in West Africa). This was in pursuance of missionary training program under Youth With A Mission, which then was one of the prerequisites to serving in several missionary capacities reaching out to the poor and the less-reached around the world.
Out of many privileges highlighted after the first course of study the Discipleship Training School (DTS), their choice was to serve with the Mercy Ships, a faith based medical mission ship that brings Hope and Healing to the world’s forgotten poor by providing FREE medical and surgical healthcare as well as other community development programs. However, due to their interests in developing more through training, they decided to undertake more courses in the process of time, so they both had the School of Communication Foundation and Lere afterward added the School of Worship.
After seven years of preparation, 2015 May brought them to the appointed time of fulfilling that section of their God-given passion for the task of the Great Commission as they were honorably accepted to serve with the Mercy Ships while the MV Africa Mercy prepared to leave the Island of Madagascar and return for a second round of field service 2015/2016.
Lere, an ordained minister of the gospel, a multi-talented and anointed musician/worship leader currently serves in full capacities as the Mercy Ministries Coordinator on the Africa Mercy. His responsibilities include leading different teams weekly from the ship to the community where they share the love of God, in orphanages, prisons, homeless outreaches, schools for the deaf and handicapped, to mention a few. The climax is the Jesus Film project to the less-reached, a practical evangelistic approach where souls are drawn to Christ. Abi on the other hand, with her secretarial and administrative background joyfully serves in full capacities as the HR facilitator (Technical) with the incredibly amazing AFM Human Resources Team.
Ultimately, they both have the privilege of using their musical gifts for worship leading as well as sharing God’s word with the Africa Mercy Community of Faith.
